Life of Purpose Treatment Facility
Florida Atlantic University – Boca Raton FL
In today’s facility spotlight, we want to highlight the very first primary care addiction treatment center on a college campus in the United States, Life of Purpose, on the campus of Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton FL. The academically focused substance abuse disorder treatment center specializes in the treatment of young adults, age 17 and older, whose education has been disrupted by substance misuse.
The team at Life of Purpose, headed by CEO Andrew Burki, MSW, provides a framework for success in recovery and purpose in life through specialized, academically focused substance use disorder treatment. “At Life of Purpose, we offer primary and intensive outpatient treatment, academically focused aftercare, and recovery housing,” said Burki. “This model offers the real-world exposure and the tools necessary for growth and the development of young adults we see every day.”
The Program is situated among three exceptional academic institutions in Boca Raton, Florida. Located at Research Park on the Florida Atlantic University (FAU) campus just north of Palm Beach State College, and in close proximity to Lynn University. Life of Purpose Florida clients may be enrolled in any of these institutions, or other ones of their own choice regardless if these are four-year colleges or not.
The Florida Program Offers:
- 60 Day Primary Residential / Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP)
- 15-30 Day Transitional Placement
- 90 Day Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP)
- 90+ Day Academically Focused Aftercare Programs
- 180 Day Luxury transitional housing programs known as Life in Progress
(Primary Residential / PHP Housing is located about three miles from FAU’s campus and features 24-hour supervision with gender-separate living areas. Transportation is provided to and from all activities.)
The transitional housing program is open to all individuals in recovery. Even patients that are not members of the Life of Purpose alumni community can live in the sober dorms. Life in Progress is a gender-specific, male luxury housing option conveniently adjacent to FAU, Lynn University, and Palm Beach State College. For female clients, there are several supervised, alternative sober living options available close by, and the program is in the progress of securing space to open a luxury housing option for females.
“At Life of Purpose, we realize that all of our clients are unique, and that each individual’s path to academic success can vary. Upon admission, we assess the needs of each client in order to determine which ancillary services might best aid them in their pursuit of an education, ” said Burki, whose treatment model also emphasizes relapse prevention.
The program is situated among three academic institutions on the Florida Atlantic University campus in Boca Raton, Florida. The vision of the facility is to foster success in recovery and purpose in life through truly specialized, academically-focused substance use disorder treatment™. Currently the facility provides the support these three campuses need, helping patients in early recovery succeed as students, and create meaning in life.
